Cheap vegan recipes for those on a budget

It’s a common misconception that living a vegan lifestyle is expensive. What’s worse, this is often used as an excuse to avoid committing to veganism. With my superhero outfit at the ready, I aim to put an end to this. One cheap recipe at a time.

In all seriousness though, I implore you to give these a try and to spread the word – especially among your meat eating friends. Each vegan meal they eat, is one less plate with meat on it!

Of course it goes without saying that buying and eating food is always going to be somewhat costly but luckily we do have some control over this. When at the grocery store aim to buy versatile, long lasting foods. Things like rice or potatoes have a long shelf life and can be used in lots of different dishes. And if you’re really keen you could always try to grow you’re own vegetables. Trust me, it’s dirt cheap…

If you’re not the green fingered type and prefer to keep it simple you could always consider buying your vegetables in bulk instead. Aim to stock your cupboards/fridge with food which can last you for up-to two weeks. This will save you both time and money which you can spend making more bulk meals! To get you started, here are some great examples you can use to feed your family on a budget:

They are all super tasty vegan dishes that are cost-friendly and rich in essential vitamins. If you want to go the extra mile when making these, try to find locally sourced ingredients and keep that carbon footprint down to a minimum.
